About the Department

The Strategic Programs & Initiatives (SP&I) department in the Office of Research at the University of Cincinnati provides the critical infrastructure that UC faculty and students require to take their ideas to the next level; collaborate freely across colleges and disciplines; fuse fruitful research partnerships with clinical, government, community, and corporate partners; and be more competitive for high value awards and fellowships recognized as particularly prestigious by the Association of American Universities (AAU), the Top American Research Universities (TARU), and the Center for Measuring University Performance (CMUP). SP&I advances scientific exploration, creative expression, and the production of new knowledge.

Job Overview

The Research Advancement area of the SP&I department seeks to hire a Program Coordinator to plan and execute enterprise-level programs that advance UC's growing research portfolio. This person will also assess and monitor prestigious grant opportunities, national awards, committees, and review panels, and further assist by providing proposal support to applicants.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze and match potential applicants to prestigious opportunities using Dimensions, Elements, etc., and prepare nomination packets.
  • Design/create and conduct seminars, classes, workshops or programs.
  • Develop program objectives and monitor quantitative and qualitative data on progress toward objectives. Review objectives to identify problems and solutions, prioritize solutions and develop action steps for program improvement.
  • Provide financial administrative support for program initiatives.
  • Develop, administer and analyze assessment/evaluation questionnaires. Compile statistics and prepare reports.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to recruit students and program participants.
  • Interact with staff faculty, external agencies and other university departments.
  • May conduct research and analyze relevant literature, other benchmark information to develop grant proposals, new program ideas and propose program changes.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

One (1) year of program coordination experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Experience working with SAP, Kuali, Wizehive, Salesforce, or similar.
