Altec AIR is recruiting a design/applications engineer at our Lancaster, NY, facility, reporting to the Production Manager.

Altec AIR New York manufactures large desiccant dryers for a variety of applications, including oil and gas, industrial compressed air, and process control to name a few. We are a small and dynamic team located outside of Buffalo, NY, about a half hour drive from Niagara Falls.

Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain PLC programs for desiccant dryer products

· Work directly with customers and end users to design and document custom dryer options & configurations according to customer RFQ's

· Develop and maintain designs and documentation for standard products and options

· Work with vendors to specify pneumatic system components, AC and DC electrical, heat transfer systems, piping and enclosures according to industry and product standards

· Create new items and Bills of Material in NAV/Business Central/Teamcenter

· Read and understand customer Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams

· Work directly with fabrication and assembly associates to support the production process

· Work directly with Technical Support and Account Management teams to resolve customer issues (may involve travel when necessary)

· Collaborate with the manufacturing team in support of the Altec Production System and Continuous Improvement initiatives

Experience and Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering program, Mech/E-Mech/Ag/Aero preferred

· Minimum four-years experience in a relevant engineering role preferred

· Experience with PLC programming required (Connected Components Workbench and Studio 5000 preferred)

· Knowledge of product and industry standards: National Electric Code, NEMA, ASME Pressure Vessel & B31.3, UL 508 Electrical Panels, Hazardous Environments (Class 1 Div 1 & Div 2)

· Ability to work independently and work with remote customers and support teams

· Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluids concepts is required

· Skilled with Solidworks, Inventor or equivalent solid modeling and 2D CAD software required

· Familiar with fluid power systems, with knowledge and understanding of pneumatics

· Familiarity with basics of psychrometrics (humidity and dewpoint of gases)

The job level may be adjusted at the time of hire should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced job in the career path.
