Mechanical Maintenance Technician-MILL

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for the Fernandina Beach Mill facility. The successful WestRock team member will be working in a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation. Employees must comply with all safety regulations and practices. WestRock is a team based environment.

The MM Technician will support the manufacturing of Pulp and Paper by providing quality maintenance duties to the mill's equipment reliability and availability. The MM technician will utilize their skills and knowledge in our continuous pulp and paper process manufacturing environment to achieve equipment run ability.

Mechanical


  • Understanding of and experience with reading drawings, Bills of Materials, parts identification, planning and scheduling

  • Initiate and complete work-orders and document all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis.

  • Determine work procedures to assemble, dismantle and overhaul machinery and equipment

  • Work with a wide variety of precision tools

  • Perform a variety of maintenance related tasks in connection with the maintenance, repair and/or improvement to equipment

  • Able to troubleshoot, PM, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Laser align equipment, rebuild pumps, change machine bearings, operate cutting torch, weld plate and pipe, safely troubleshoot and repair hydraulic components, etc.

  • Expertise with common paper mill equipment/components such as: conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, rolls bearings, seals, chains, sprockets, couplings, cylinders, valves, etc.

  • Operate equipment such as hoists, cranes, fork-lifts, welding machines, burning rigs, etc.


What you need to succeed:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.

  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated the drive to achieve and have upward movement in various jobs

  • Self-motivated desire to learn

  • Capable of meeting physical requirements to include working weekends/holidays, around heat, noise, work inside/outside, etc.

  • Has the mechanical, mathematical, and verbal aptitude to learn positions

  • Proven record of performance

  • Play by the rules and work well with others

  • Able to complete and submit an employment application online

  • Able to operate in heavy manufacturing site and work variable schedule and overtime as needed.
