Position Summary The Organoid and Cell Culture Core at Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, Columbia University Medical Center, New York is seeking a full-time technician, who will be instrumental in the daily operations of the OCCC. This staff member will be primarily responsible for fulfilling basic service requests such as mycoplasma testing, conditioned medium preparation, and shipping, and will also be involved in the generation and characterization of novel patient-derived organoid lines. A promising candidate will have a bachelor or master's degree in one or more of the areas of biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry and must be detail-oriented, organized, able to work independently, and curious to learn new techniques. Hands-on experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques is a plus, but not required. Responsibilities Handle routine organoid and cell culture, including cataloguing, annotation and quality control. Maintain routine mycoplasma testing. Prepare and restock critical reagents and supplies. Assist with documentation of both routine and experimental protocols as well as daily activities. Prepare and communicate reports, results and progress with supervisors. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, chemistry, physics, math, computer sciences, or related fieldsor equivalent in education, training and experience. Other Requirements Experience in cell culture. Basic knowledge of cellular and molecular biology techniques. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
