Position Title: IT Support Technician School/Division: School of Medicine Office: Zucker School of Medicine, Information Technology Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time Description: Reporting to the Director of Information Technology for the Zucker School of Medicine, the IT Support Technician provides combined classroom technology and desktop support to Zucker School of Medicine faculty, staff, and students. This position is a client-facing role requiring exceptional technical and interpersonal skills. The IT Support Technician supports technologies including cloud-based applications, desktop software, mobile hardware, audiovisual systems, and additional technology services. The IT Support Technician will join a collaborative team to deliver excellent support by phone, email, and in-person interactions at the Zucker School of Medicine. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of classroom audiovisual equipment in classrooms, labs, and meeting spaces. Maintains efficient internal inventory management system and asset loan policies, including coordinating software updates for loaner laptops and maintenance of hardware in stock. Provides on-site training support for classroom or meeting space technology to faculty, staff, and students, as needed, and updates instructional guides for users. Tracks all user desktop software and hardware related issues in a timely manner and manages problem resolution or escalation through IT incident tracking system. Monitors and manages student printing terminals, including troubleshooting issues with associated student printing software. Supports and/or initiates IT/AV-related projects and tasks independently or as assigned by the Director. Supports ad hoc and/or annual initiatives and technology projects and stays informed about emerging technologies. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, business information systems, or related field required. Minimum two years of practical experience in service-desk environment and end-user support and troubleshooting. Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting software across a wide variety of platforms. Demonstrated excellence in customer service, interpersonal, telephone, organizational, oral/written communication, as well as demonstrated problem-solving skills and analytical thinking. Must be detail oriented, with exceptional time management and project management skills. Must have the ability to lift and move light to heavy IT equipment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with building and maintaining databases in Microsoft Access or similar database management systems preferred. Experience with ServiceNow, learning and curriculum management tools such as Canvas and one45 and scripting languages such as shell and python) a plus. Experience in an academic environment that supports faculty, staff, students, and administrative users.
