PURPOSE OF POSITION :
New hire Qualified Locomotive Electrician will receive a $15,000 signing bonus. An electrician is responsible for inspecting, servicing, and maintaining diesel locomotive electrical systems in accordance with company guidelines and federal regulations; detecting and diagnosing diesel engine electrical malfunctions, and making necessary repairs. By applying to this job you will be put into a pool of candidates that will be used throughout the year to fill positions when they become available in this area. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Electrical repair and maintenance of diesel locomotives
- Electrical modifications/upgrades to locomotive systems
- Diagnostic trouble shooting with onboard computer systems/laptops
- Will be responsible for other duties as assigned in compliance with FRA Rules and Safety Regulations
- High school diploma or GED required
- Journeyman Electrician is preferred, but will consider applicants with related electrical experience
- Diesel electrical experience is preferred. However, electrical experience or training with other types of machinery/truck or automotive electrical repairs and upgrades to systems is considered
- Ability to follow Electrical Schematics is a definite asset
- Must be safety oriented and comply with safety rules and regulations
- Must be willing to work shifts, 24/7 seniority based operation
- Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Medical Requirements:
CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public. This position is a safety sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical that includes a physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug audit assessments. Qualification drug test(s) are also required.

The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances:
- Criminal history check
- Last 3 years of driving history
- Last 7 years of employment history; includes military service
- Social Security number verification
