Part-Time Women's Nordic Skiing Coach (Adjunct) - Military Veterans

Job Description:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coaching: practice planning, including day-to-day organization, communication, and instruction; competitive preparation to include on-course coaching; timely organization and communication of team travel; organization of competitive travel schedule
  • Recruiting: talent identification and evaluation, correspondence, assistance with admission process and NCAA initial eligibility
  • Budget development and management, including athletic scholarship allocation
  • Student-athlete development: mentoring to include individual and team dynamics, team rules and conduct, leadership development; commitment to safety and well-being of student-athletes
  • Academic monitoring of student-athletes: collaboration with office of compliance and with academic resources available on campus
  • Compliance: demonstrating integrity in operations and adhering to all NCAA, and University policies and procedures
  • Public relations: occasional media and speaking engagements; deliberate contact with alumni and supporters; effective professional working relationships with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni, and general public; engagement with departmental community service initiatives as appropriate
  • Fundraising: develop community support for the program, engage in Department of Athletics events, manage program fundraising activities including special events and camps/clinics

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Evidence of ability to manage all aspects of a collegiate women's Nordic Skiing program
  • Evidence of ability to recruit talented student-athletes to Division II program
  • Commitment to academic success of student-athletes
  • Evidence of the ability to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Evidence of a valid driver's license, or ability to acquire a legal driver's license or qualify for a reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Progressive competition or coaching experience (e.g., student-athlete; high school/college coach)
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with strength and conditioning
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication both orally and in writing
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills, including basic accounting practices
  • College and/or professional playing experience
