Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. Has wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinates activities of other personnel.

Join the team of highly competent and state of the art optical and copper physical layer products. You will be involved with software development for Broadcom PHY chip sets for standalone and Broadcom SDK. As a member of this team your responsibilities will include:



  • Test Ethernet PHY low level drivers and debug


  • Reproduce customer issues and test fixes provided by the development team


  • Create and review test plans


  • Convert customer requirements, use cases into lab bench test scripts


  • Create test plans, tests cases, scenarios


  • Drive test methodologies, test automation, regressions and test summary reports across chips, packages


  • Proactively identify new methodologies or tools to address Software SDK/API Driver test development.


  • Understand customer applications in order to identify key technology and product features for next generation products. Act as a technical liaison between Chip Development Teams and Application Teams and Customers


  • The candidate is expected to have a thorough understanding of Ethernet MAC and Physical layer devices/transceivers and be able to answer customer questions regarding the features, to provide timely and accurate information


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or ECE/Electronics is required. Master's degree is a plus


  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in Embedded/device driver/Protocol Software Design, Development and Testing


  • Must possess strong coding/debug experience in C


  • C programming experience and typical ARM based chip bring-up/debugging experience is a plus




  • Maintaining Automotive process, regression automations is a plus.


  • Static code analysis and debug experience is required to achieve high quality code


  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player


  • Experience with device driver development and diagnostics and understanding of hardware devices, understanding of bus protocols like MDIO, I2C is a must.


  • Working experience on Linux/VxWorks or equivalent embedded OS is required


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills is a must


  • Able to adopt the use of new techniques and methodologies and promote their use within the project


  • Hands on experience of traffic generation tools such as IXIA or Spirent is required


  • Experience with physical layer IEEE standards, Auto-negotiation, Transmit training, FEC is preferred


  • Experience with L1/L2 Ethernet and PCS, MAC layer is a big plus


  • Working Knowledge of IEEE 802.3 Physical layer standards is a plus.


  • Working knowledge of register level API development of transceivers is a plus


  • Working knowledge with Hardware platforms in the lab is a big plus


  • Experience with PCIe, USB or any PHY register level driver development is a plus


  • Ability to apply an innovative approach to troubleshoot and solve complex problems


  • Hardware understanding and ability to read HW schematics is a big plus


  • Experience in customer interaction and support role is a plus


  • Working knowledge with MacSec encryption, decryption drivers is preferred
