Tenured Full Professor: Neurology #NEU021a | University of Chicago (UC) - Military Veterans

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology, in collaboration with the Grossman Center for Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior, is searching for a faculty member to hold its Jack Miller Professorship. The appointee will conduct research that seeks a cure for peripheral neuropathy, especially idiopathic peripheral neuropathy, and will have a history of, and currently hold, extramural funding. The appointee will lead the Department's peripheral neuropathy research program and collaborate closely with the members of the Neuromuscular Program in the Department of Neurology, the University's Neuroscience Institute, and numerous other programs and centers. Other duties will include teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level and supervision of students and trainees. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) isdependent upon qualifications.The primary faculty appointment will be in the Department of Neurology with an opportunity for secondary appointments in departments throughout the BSD dependent upon interests and qualifications. We especially welcome applicants who are mid-career and senior-level investigators with leadership skills. The appointee must qualify for appointment as full professor with tenure.Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications. The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within the compact campus in Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have: 1) a PhD in neurosciences, genetics or an equivalent area OR a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) if an MD, hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois and be board certified or eligible in Neurology.
