Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an adjunct instructor in the Life Sciences Program. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management of courses taught in the BioAg PRO (BioAgriculture Program Readiness Opportunity) program. The adjunct instructor will work closely with the Program Director, faculty, and staff on matters related to and for the benefit of the Science and Math Guided Career Pathway and its students. Provide accessible, quality learning experiences forall courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction, including seated, online, and hybrid, as needed at any of Durham Tech's instructional sites. Be prepared with a syllabus and instructional plans for each class session in accordance with the course's stated objectives. Enforce academic policy and procedures and comply with institutional rules and regulations. Maintain complete course and student records, reports, and forms. Stay current with developments in agriculture and plant science. Collaborate with the Program Director and Curriculum Developer to ensure that the program is meeting the needs of business and industry; Collaborate with the Life Sciences Career Development Specialists to coordinate career development sessions for students. Learn the college's Learning Management System (Canvas) and other virtual platforms, such as Canva, Quizizz, Quizlet, etc., to deliver effective, high-quality learning experiences in the classroom, lab and online. Work with various external stakeholders, such as Global Ag, to develop course materials relevant to current trends in the region. Seek out and participate in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of best teaching practices, technology used in the classroom or online, and trending industry practices. Assume responsibility for laboratory/classroom preparation, including maintenance and cleanup, and recommend, as necessary, appropriate laboratory supplies and equipment. Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director, department Dean, Chief Academic Officer, or President, in meeting the needs of the department, division, and College. This includes completing all mandatory training required by the College. Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education, Agricultural Sciences, Biology, Horticulture, Plant Sciences, or a related discipline. Work Experience : At least three years' agriculture or horticulture industry experience required. Preferred Qualifications : Prior agriculture or horticulture teaching experience within any North Carolina Community College. Experience working in a greenhouse or other controlled environment for agriculture.
