The Assistant Director of Student Employment Services (SES) will plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of SES full time and student staff. Serve as an expert in student employment best practices, local, state and federal labor laws and University HR policies. Execute training and talent development programs and processes for undergraduate and graduate students. Identify, respond and resolve issues as appropriate. Locate and develop off-campus job opportunities for students who are currently enrolled in courses at LMU. Help to implement training solutions and improvements to ensure customer responsiveness to students, on-campus supervisors, off campus partners, and all other related stakeholders. Student Employment Services Supervise daily activities of Student Employment Services office and staff. Monitor workflow, develop and document procedures and foster consistency of LMU best practices. Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state laws, university policies and procedures to ensure that all student employment processes are accurate, efficient and relevant. Manage employee relations for LMU student employees and supervisors. Assist with campus outreach efforts. Collaborate with various members of the LMU community including representatives of the Career and Professional Services, Controller's office, Financial Aid office, Human Resources and Payroll office as well as faculty, ITS and Budget Managers, in order to support student employment processes and ensure effective and efficient collaboration. Troubleshoot HRIS hiring and other procedures for campus supervisors and students. Train and supervise SES student employees as assigned. Provide support of the use of technology within Student Employment Services in order to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services to all constituents. Maintain and update fiscal records, procedures and other information used by Student Employment Services to prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports. Prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports. Maintain record keeping and provide statistical information in compliance with Federal Work Study reporting guidelines. Compile statistical information in response to departmental and divisional reporting requests, audit needs and federal reporting requirements. Utilize, identify and develop current and emerging technologies that enhance the delivery of SES services and the overall effectiveness of the SES department. Provide support to SES team members in the execution of student employment programs, events and training workshops for undergraduates, graduate students, and their supervisors. Act as a resource to Student Employment Services professionals and student staff in order to ensure consistent delivery of services and timely response to and resolution of issues as appropriate. Serve on departmental, divisional and University committees as requested, representing the Division of Student Affairs and Student Employment Services. Contribute to the Student Employment Services profession, representing the Division of Student Affairs and the University, through involvement in professional associations, presentations at workshops and conferences, grant writing, assessment, and research initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned. Job Locator Developer (JLD) Locate, develop and manage off-campus community service employment opportunities for work study students. Establish and maintain partnership with stakeholders in School of Education and other relevant on-campus departments and organizations. Travel locally to meet with off-campus employers and business partners as needed. Maintain, monitor and track sound record-keeping including those associated with fiscal management, operating procedures, job tracking and placement statistics. Ensure compliance with Federal guidelines. Provide current and accurate data related to job outlook and employment in and around Los Angeles and California to Career Development Services, University colleagues and students. Compile, monitor and report JLD, institutional and federal expenditures and total earnings for students employed through the JLD program. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requisite Qualifications Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, Master's Degree preferred. Courses in Business, Human Resources and/or Marketing/Public relations are preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes. Minimum of three years of experience in a college/university Work Study, Personnel/Human Resources, Career Services, or Payroll office. Experience in compiling and organizing information to prepare reports and memoranda. Demonstrated experience in the areas of customer service, problem-solving and meeting critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills (both written and oral). Strong organizational and leadership skills. Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledge of higher education administrative computing, document scanning, and electronic timekeeping systems.
