The Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to be responsible for coordinating clinical research activities for the Johns Hopkins Lupus Center on the Broadway campus. This position will include research activities, data management and carrying out day to day activities for research projects. The Research Program Coordinator is responsible for monitoring progress of research protocols for a multi-center study and collection of research data on patients entered into research protocols at the Johns Hopkins Lupus Center. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Primary coordinating responsibility for assigned studies, processing and storing samples collected, contacting and scheduling research subjects, acquisition and verification of data from questionnaires, acquisition of results from laboratory and imaging studies, phlebotomy/blood processing and storing of samples collected, ongoing communication between patients and faculty, and ordering supplies. Monitor the clinical course and collection of data on patients entered into research protocols. Organization, entry, maintenance and accuracy of patient clinical data. Maintain detailed knowledge of all assigned protocols. Adhere to protocol requirements to ensure the validity of clinical research subject data. Screen and recruit participants. Determine eligibility of patients at screening visits. Maintain a research chart (as appropriate) for study participants. Organize patient source documents and case report forms for collecting and analyzing patient data. Conduct phlebotomy and specimen processing in accordance with, and after training in, biohazard material handling and Department of Transportation (DOT) shipping requirements. Work with supervisor and study sponsor (where appropriate) on problem recognition/resolution, accuracy of data gathered, patient well-being, completion and collection of regulatory documents required by sponsors. Verify scheduling of patient appointments, tests, and follow-up visits at the appropriate time in the treatment cycle to assure completion of protocol requirements. Meet regularly with Principal Investigators to review data accuracy and overall study progress. Participate in, and travel where necessary to, all mandatory meetings to develop increasing knowledge of clinical research and clinical trials. Respond in a timely manner to special projects or queries related to data. Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Maintain familiarity with a range of clinical research conducted in the Division of Rheumatology. Familiar with good clinical practice guidelines and knowledge of sponsor and FDA guidelines. Knowledgeable of and complies with institutional and external clinical research guidelines. Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, ability to work independently. Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally and congenially with collaborators and study patients. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Phlebotomy experience. Prior work experience in a medical office or practice setting.
