Role Summary


The Learning & Development Director will be responsible for the company-wide L&D program delivery, bringing to life practical, organizational learning as a key people strategy for competitive advantage and growth. This position will oversee the delivery of operational training, professional, management, and leadership development for employees across the entire company. The Director will also lead a team of collaborative L&D professionals to deliver engaging learning solutions that can scale our growing company and build employee, leadership, and organizational capabilities in the flow of project work. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn. 




Key Role Responsibilities - Core



  • LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT LEADERSHIP FAMILY – CORE


  • Assists in the development of the learning strategy to ensure the organization has the right capabilities to deliver business results now and, in the future.

  • Plays a critical role as a performance partner, identifying organizational talent needs and proposing impactful learning solutions.

  • Partners across the HR/People team and with business leaders on the design and delivery of new hire learning programs, career path driven learning curriculums, as well as professional and leadership development pathways.

  • Leads and develops a team of learning professionals to design and deliver high-impact, scalable, and technology-enabled solutions that meet the diverse needs of our employees and leaders.

  • Develops communication campaigns and collateral that clearly articulate learning and development offerings and ensure programs and pathways are evident to employees and leaders.

  • Oversees relationships with third-party firms delivering learning and training services, establishing the standards and metrics to track delivery and impact.

  • Develops and communicates clear, robust L&D metrics, dashboards, and insights that can be leveraged across the HR team and organization.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional support partners in IT, Business Process Management, Knowledge Management, Lean and Safety to deliver integrated training solutions across functions.

  • Collaborates with peers across Talent Management and the People team to drive greater alignment, consistency, and integration across the employee experience.

  • Manages and maintains the learning management system and adaptive learning platform.




Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.

  • Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written. 

  • Proficiency in MS Office.

  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning strategy. 

  • Thorough knowledge of evidenced-based education, cognitive learning theory, instructional design, and performance consulting.

  • Advanced ability to conduct effective presentations. 

  • Ability to speak comfortably in front of a large group as well as in one-to-one interaction in business and social settings.

  • Ability to solve complex problems quickly and effectively.

  • Ability to develop long-term capabilities of others and the organization as a whole.

  • Strong business acumen to effectively align HR and learning programs with company goals.

  • Proficiency in working with business leaders in a highly matrixed, complex business and able to develop collaborative solutions to business and organizational needs.

  • Ability to foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment in every respect.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience leading large complex projects across geographically dispersed teams.

  • Ability to deliver quality through attention to detail.

  • Ability to tailor communication to different individuals and audiences. 

  • Ability to manage time and resources to accomplish priorities; highly organized.

  • Ability to multi-task, effectively facilitating multiple projects concurrently.

  • Ability to be a genuine and positive leader whose natural style uses persuasion and influence.

  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.




Education



  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, human resources, or related field (Required)

  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered




Experience



  • 10+ years progressive learning and development experience (Required)

  • 5+ years people management/leadership experience (Required)

  • Experience in the AEC industry (Preferred)




Working Environment



  • Valid and unrestricted drivers license required

  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds

  • May require extensive periods of travel

  • Normal office environment

  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs

  • Frequent activity: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen

  • Occasional activity: Bending, Reaching above Shoulder
