Senior Systems Engineer - Military Veterans

Amentum is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD to support our customer, Project Manager Intelligence Systems & Analytics - Army (PM IS&A).

This position is contingent upon award.

Duties:

  • Provide coordination with external stakeholders, primarily the Software Engineering Center (SEC) and others. Such as the Capability Manager and the S&T community.

  • Provide software engineering support to PM IS&A for the full software life cycle of a product line.

  • Coordinate and synchronize software and hardware requirements and architecture between the developers and System of Systems products for IS&A and other systems as directed.

  • Apply a systems engineering approach to ensure that mission objectives and system criteria requirements are met with an emphasis on demonstrating clear and definable improvements in the performance, logistics supportability, reliability, and maintainability of all PM IS&A systems.

  • Review IS&A overarching requirements and provide input into the establishment of hardware and software requirements; assist the Government with all software, hardware, and systems engineering activities in support of current fielded systems that have transitioned into sustainment.

  • Provide specialized system engineering and process-based methodology involving configuration support and process refinement.

  • Provide systems and software engineering support to assess, and analyze large, complex systems and their integration into future Army strategic or tactical systems.

  • Prepare, review, and update existing engineering and technical documentation, as required, to support timely and effective acquisition milestones. Prepare/contribute and update the Systems Engineering Plan (SEP) as appropriate.

  • Author and synchronize software processes, policies, and methodologies across Systems Engineering IPT and ensure compatibility with System of System level guidance.


Required Skills & Experience:
  • Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Direct experience working with complex software systems performing requirements decomposition, managing requirements, reviewing software design, and tracking software development, integration and testing.

  • Direct experience with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance software systems.

  • Direct experience in the design, integration, configuration, and analysis of complex software systems, military electronics, computer networking, and digital and graphic display systems.

  • Direct experience with Department of Defense System Engineering processes.


Required Clearance:
  • ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: TS/SCI. Please note that US Citizenship is required to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, System, Software or Computer Engineering; Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.

  • At least fifteen (15) years related work experience is required.

  • Masters degree and twelve (12) or more years related experience may also qualify.


Travel:

Less than 10% travel is expected for this position. Travel may include continental United States and outside continental United States locations.

Work Environment:

This position may be performed in a variety of locations, including but not limited to, commercial and/or government offices, test and integration labs, government facilities and depots, and test & evaluation and proving grounds.

Physical demands of this position include ability to:
  • Be independently mobile.

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.

  • Withstand prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer use.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Flexibility around core hours. Travel may occur outside of normal core hours.

Amentum offers a competitive compensation package for employees. Our total compensation package is value-based and negotiable depending upon the candidate's specific skills and applicable relevant experience.
