Head of Individual Markets Strategic Initiatives - Military Veterans

Position Summary

The Individual Markets Strategic Growth and Innovation organization is responsible for assessing future strategic opportunities for the Individual Markets (IM) business related to profitable growth, technological innovation, customer experience, as well as product and services. As the Strategy Leader in this organization, you will partner with leaders in IM and the enterprise strategy team to support the Head of IM Strategic Growth and Innovation in the identification, evaluation and prioritization of these opportunities. You will work as part of a team to develop long-range plans to execute and deliver on these strategic initiatives.

As our Head of Individual Markets Strategic Initiatives , you will report to our Head of Individual Markets Strategic Growth and Innovation, who reports to our Head of Individual Markets.

You are


  • Proactive, resourceful, impact oriented, and an excellent end-to-end generalist problem solver with the ability to analyze and identify issues.

  • Able to see opportunities through identification and analysis through execution.

  • A self-starter who is able to work independently and prioritize across multiple tasks.

  • Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate and lead complex workstreams.

  • Able to navigate relationships across all levels and cross-functional areas of the organization using strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and judgment.

You have

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Ability to influence while building trust and consensus among multiple partners/cross functional teams with competing interests.

  • Experience managing sophisticated projects and/or timelines.

  • Bachelors Degree required, MBA preferred

  • Proven experience working in strategy consulting, business management or operational experience.

  • Prior experience working with financial services, particularly in the insurance industry, a must.

You will

  • Use strategic frameworks to identify issues and structure problem solving.

  • Perform competitive/industry research using both public and non-public sources.

  • Identify implications of conceptual analyses of operational and financial data.

  • Develop concise communication materials for senior management.

  • Work collaboratively and build trust with team members across Guardian.

  • Coach, develop, and mentor colleagues on problem solving and analytical, communications and leadership skills.

  • Develop deep knowledge of Guardian's Individual Markets business.


Location
  • This is a flexible position requiring at least 2 days per week in one of our office locations (NYC, Holmdel NJ, Stamford, CT, Bethlehem, PA) with infrequent travel to other locations, as needed to meet business needs.

Salary Range
$171,330.00 - $281,467.50

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
