Director NTID Student Success Center 8849BR National Technical Institute for the Deaf NTID Student Success Center Job Summary Please note: While typical work hours are 8 am - 5 pm, the Director should be prepared to work some evenings and weekends to support these programs. and weekends to support these programs. The NTID Student Success Center (NSSC) is home to a variety of first-year programs, including the Summer Vestibule Program, Freshman Seminar, and the NTID College Restoration Program. As the leader of NSSC, the Director plays a crucial role in directing and guiding these programs. The Director must possess strategic thinking skills, the ability to approach challenges from a holistic perspective, and be a strong collaborator. It is also their responsibility to ensure that all NSSC programs and events are thoughtfully planned and effectively executed. The NSSC Director reports to the NTID Associate Dean for Academic Administration (ADAA). Job Responsibilities: Lead efforts within college of NTID to enhance student success with focus on retention and graduation rates. Responsible to track first year student progress to ensure student success and retention. Work with various programs reporting to this position as well as academic departments and academic advisors to review and track all first-year students. Lead and direct the NTID Student Success Center (NSSC) which includes a range of first-year programs. Work with various programs reporting to this position as well as academic departments and academic advisors to review and track all first-year students. Analyze each programs strengths and weaknesses and develop improvement strategies for future program offerings. Track, document, and present bi-annual statistical and informational reports to ADAA at midway and completion of each NSSC program. Work with NSSC staff assistant for logistical and support functions for the center. Perform administrative responsibilities including but not limited to preparing agenda, facilitating, and leading center meetings, developing and managing correspondence with college/university offices, and external organizations, and overseeing and managing center budget. Collaborate with RIT Office of Student Success, NTID Institute Analysis and Assessment, NTID Academic Affairs, NTID Counseling & Academic Advising Services, RIT University Advising Office (UAO), Early Alerts, and NTID Student Affairs to develop and monitor metrics for tracking student progress and success, such as for students with grades of D, F, or W (DFW), student engagement, student GPA (SGPA), and student cumulative GPA (CGPA). Collaborate with Case Management Office to help students navigate personal problems. Collaborate and liaise with the RIT Health Services, RIT Disability Service Office (DSO), and the Department of Access Services (DAS) to ensure that accommodation needs of NTID students are met. Collaborate with program managers to ensure housing and dining services for students enrolled in Summer Vestibule Program, New Signers Program, and Summer Transition Program. Collaborate with NTID Marketing and Admissions to advertise and recruit for NSSC programs. Collaborate with NTID Office of Diversity and Inclusion to ensure safe space for first-year students. Assist with special projects as assigned by ADAA. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Education/Experience: Advanced degree: Student Affairs, higher education administration, business management, social work, deaf education, adult education, recreation, psychology, sports management, hospitality, leadership, disability studies, or related/relevant field. 5 or more years of experience required to perform the essential responsibilities of the job. Skills: ASL fluency-Intermediate level on the SLPI or equivalent Evidence of 5 or more years of experience working with deaf individuals/groups Evidence of 2 or more years of experience managing successful program(s) in the field of education or in a related field Evidence of 2 or more years of experience in a supervisory capacity for at least 2-3 employees Preferred Qualifications: ASL fluency-Advanced level on the SLPI or equivalent Department/College Description Minimum Qualifications Education/Experience: Advanced degree: Student Affairs, higher education administration, business management, social work, deaf education, adult education, recreation, psychology, sports management, hospitality, leadership, disability studies, or related/relevant field. 5 or more years of experience required to perform the essential responsibilities of the job.
