Clinical Scientists - Pediatric Hematology Oncology #PED149 | University of Chicago (UC) - Military Veterans

at Herc- Greater Chicago

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics and University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) seeks tenured or tenure-track faculty members who are pursuing research on adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancers. In line with the strategic development of cancer research at the University of Chicago, the appointees would co-lead a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary group to study etiology, identify risk factors, enhance access to and quality of care, improve survival, and reduce disparities experienced by AYAs with cancer. We expect the faculty members to be proposed for an appointment in the NCI-designated UCCCC and collaborate in multi-disciplinary research with colleagues across UCCCC programs, including Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer and Cancer Prevention and Control. The appointees will also have interests that align with other scientific programs within the Biological Sciences Division including human genetics and epigenetics, environmental health sciences, cell and molecular biology, public health sciences, health informatics, health economics, and related areas. Appointees are expected to teach at the undergraduate or graduate level. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications, with a primary faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, and options for secondary appointments throughout the Biological Sciences Division. Mid-career and senior-level investigators with leadership skills and experience leading team efforts or building programs in cancer-focused research are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a research doctoral degree or equivalent in population sciences or related discipline. The University is a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division. The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago's Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences. Competitive research space and start-up funding are available, as will the potential for interactions with our affiliates, the Argonne National Laboratory, and the Marine Biological Laboratory. Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent. To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/123908 .
