WestRock - Pulp Process Technical Assistant

The Opportunity:
The Mahrt mill produces high quality packaging coated paperboard and is highly profitable. Year after year Mahrt continues to deliver unprecedented safety, reliability, production, and financial results.
The Pulp Process Technical Assistant provides technical support by monitoring, investigating, evaluating, and making recommendations for improving quality, quantity, and cost in the Pulp Mill and Woodyard.

The Pulp Process Technical Assistant reports directly to the Pulp Mill/Woodyard Superintendent.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Review and analyze production reports to identify issues impacting production.
  • Manage Pulp Mill raw material program by partnering with purchasing and internal supplies group.
  • Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and quality and cost improvement trials.
  • Assist with the management of annual budget, providing forecasts and reviewing monthly costs.
  • Lead the departmental ISO compliance program.
  • Actively promote safety and environmental compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will need to succeed:
  • BS Degree in a related field such as Chemical Engineering or Pulp and Paper Science.
  • 5 years or more of Pulp Mill experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Excel is required.
  • Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Six Sigma green belt certification preferred.
