Director of Audiology- Faculty Physician (Asst/ Assoc/ Full Professor) - Military Veterans

The University of Minnesota Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Department is searching for an assistant/associate/full professor level candidate to lead its Audiology program. We are searching for a candidate with a demonstrated track record of clinical excellence and academic productivity. The successful candidate will provide clinical audiology leadership in a multi-subspecialty Audiology program which is well integrated into the clinical and research mission of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
It is expected that the candidate will develop a clinical practice in their area of expertise. It is also expected that the candidate will develop a research program. Interaction and collaboration with the department's basic scientists is also desired where possible.
Principal Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership in audiology to audiology staff and faculty and otolaryngology faculty, and otolaryngology focusing on the Division of Otology and Neurotology.
- Assume the clinical leadership responsibilities in collaboration with the Otolaryngology Department Chair, and in partnership with the administrative dyad partner.
- Develop new clinical programs to ensure that the University of Minnesota remains in the forefront in treatment options.
- Responsible for on-going competency and clinical training of audiology practitioners.
- Bring visibility to establish clinical programs in cochlear implantation, skull base surgery, and develop a tertiary care practice in vestibular disorders.
- Academic responsibilities will include teaching residents, fellows, medical students as well as audiology student interns and externs.
- Initiate and maintain a research program focused on one or more areas of audiology such as vestibular research and clinical neurophysiology. Provide expertise and support for resident and fellow research in the area of expertise.
- Where appropriate, initiate proposals for external funding.
Minimum Qualification
- We are seeking an individual with an academic doctorate in Audiology or Hearing Science in addition to a professional degree (e.g. MA/MS+PhD or Au.D. + Ph.D.).
- We are seeking an individual with a track record in a medical setting with demonstrated effective interaction and collaboration with physician colleagues.
- The successful candidate must have experience as a provider in one or more areas of audiology and/or vestibular sciences.
- Possess strong communication skills and has a proven track record to lead colleagues.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of being successful in program development.
- Where possible, evidence of developing a cohesive clinical team.
- Active external funding is not a must, but is highly desirable, as well as a track record of success in obtaining external funding.
- National and international recognition is also highly desirable.
