Safety Case Author - Military Veterans

We are now recruiting for Safety Case Author to join us permanently on our major projects.

Purpose and Scope:

As Safety Case Author you will be part of this major programme safety case capability and provides radiological safety assessment.

You will be accountable to the Safety Case manager.

Responsibilities:

As the Safety Case Author your responsibilities will include:

• Undertakes radiological safety assessment, and associated activities, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls and document management functions;
  
• Acts in any safety assessment or equivalent role;
  
• Supporting the Safety Case Manager;
  
• Supporting wider Programme safety case and engineering leads when requested;
  
• Assisting Head of Profession in capability development and establishment and implementation of resource strategies, recruitment plans and competence;
  
• Advises Amentum and Client leadership, engineering, programme and project management, and clients (intelligent Customer), on regulatory compliance, standards and guidance;
  
• Interfacing as necessary with suppliers;
  
• Supporting the client in interactions with Regulators and safety committees.
  

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Ideally hold a Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education);
  
• Human Factors assessment, and HAZAN production;
  
• Experience of UK and International standards, e.g. Technical Assessment Guides;
  
• Experience of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools;
  
• Experience of ergonomics/human factors design
  
• Experience of relevant code (THERP, HEART etc.) application in a wide range of nuclear operations and fault scenarios;
  
• Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting;
  
• Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel;
  
• Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing;
  
• Good MS applications, organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
  

Desirable:

• Experience of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment and nuclear Site Licence Conditions;
  
• Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations;
  
• Experience of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning;
  
• Experience of safety case in civil reactors and defence sector;
  
• Experience of international nuclear safety assessment;
  
• Project management and project controls skills;
  
• Stakeholder management skills;
  
• Ability to mentor and coach.
  

Position will require ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
