Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an adjunct instructor of Developmental Mathematics in the Science and Math Department. In general, the work of the Instructor, Developmental Mathematics includes performing teaching duties requiring the ability to stand for long periods of time. Duties at other campus locations may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. The Instructor is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of classroom instruction and for providing those related support activities required for optimal student learning and effective educational programming. As a member of the faculty within the Science and Mathematics Department, the Instructor is also accountable for assisting and supporting the Chair and Dean in meeting the instructional and curricular requirements of the program, department, and division. Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction; Be fully prepared with instructional plans for each class session and in accord with the stated objectives of the course; Be available to refer students, as needed, to the proper student support services; Maintain professional awareness of important developmental education issues, incorporating them into instruction in a manner consistent with course outlines; Use various instructional technologies to provide contemporary presentation of material; Teach assigned courses with special attention to the college's mission, its commitment to the open door philosophy and student success; Enforce academic policies and procedures, and comply with all other institutional rules and regulations pertinent to classroom instruction and general employment; Maintain records and process reports, forms, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner, checking for the accuracy, correctness and completeness of all data; Must complete mandatory training. A bachelor's degree in mathematics or math education and 18 hours credit in graduate-level mathematics. Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree in mathematics or math education. Work Experience: One year of successful teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
