The selected engineer will be responsible for developing plan sheets, specifications, and analysis models for projects for a diverse local client base (NYCDOT, NYSDOT, PANYNJ, TBTA) as well as clients across the country for our signature span (suspension bridges, cable stayed bridges, moveable bridges) across the country and internationally.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The selected engineer will be responsible for the development of contract documents (drawings, calculations, specifications) for bridge structure designs under the direction of a more senior engineer. The selected engineer will be expected to produce detailed drawings with oversight.
In addition to design, field inspection opportunities on long-span (suspension and steel truss bridges) are an annual event and provide an opportunity for professional exposure and growth.
The selected engineer will perform engineering tasks and will be expected to extract engineering information from CAD drawings. You’ll prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs. You’ll complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments. Reviews contractor drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses. Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents. You’ll work with and provide direction to our experienced CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and other Engineers working on the same project.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required, Masters Degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the design of bridge structures.
- EIT a plus
- Design-Build project delivery experience is a plus
- Microstation and/or Autocadd experience
- Revit experience is a plus
- CSiBridge, Larsa, MDX or similar analysis experience
