The Department of Biology and Neuroscience Program   at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for BIOL 132A, General Microbiology (4 credits) for the Fall 2024 semester. This course is usually offered every year and is often taken by students majoring in Biology and Health: Science, Society, and Policy as well as pre-medical students. Topics covered by this class include the physiology and properties of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms; microbial nutrition, metabolism, growth; bacterial genetics; horizontal gene transfer; microbial pathogenesis; immunity; antibiotics and other means of microbial control . BIOL 14A (Genetics and Genomics) and BIOL 15B (Cells and Organisms) must be successfully completed as a prerequisite prior to taking BIOL 132A. A PhD in microbiology or a related field is required, and strong preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in microbiology.  Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, CV, and names and contact information for two references.
