Electrical Engineer - Military Veterans

The Electrical Engineer will research, develop, design, test, and evaluate electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Designs, and may direct engineering personnel in, fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products. Working conditions are remote. Expect a 60-hour work week, and exposure to extreme weather, and hazardous worksite conditions. May be required to move on short notice under adverse conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs design work for new construction, renovations and improvement projects for real property facilities
- Interpret, adapt traditional methods while developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards
- Responsible for select construction inspections, quality control and submittal reviews beyond the expertise of construction managers
- Develop cost estimates and time schedules
- Review and analyze preliminary and final designs, plans and specifications for technical efficiency and adequacy
- Prepare necessary correspondence, technical reports, contract documents, fact sheets and status reports and prepares final construction drawings suitable for obtaining qualified bids from Contractors
- Create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution
- Monitor and manage projects for new construction, renovations and improvements to real property facilities, utilizing a professional knowledge of engineering
- Responsible for the correct and efficient execution of assigned work involving the installation, removal, inspection, maintenance and repair of all electrical systems, distribution systems and fixtures
- Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in the assembly, installation and repair of electrical cables, systems power distribution systems, distribution panels, inspections
- Designs, and may direct engineering personnel in, fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
- Secure the cooperation of other crafts/trades supervisors
- May perform maintenance and repair work, at times
- Comply with health, safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned
Experience & Qualifications
- Active US Department of Defense Security Clearance
- Be a US Citizen
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education
- Six to nine years of Facilities electrical design
- Capable of complete design and investigative services including electric power distribution networks, power load determination, exterior electric, interior electric, fire alarm systems, airfield, and site lighting
- Should have had experience in controls systems designs
- Preference will be given to individuals who have worked on US Government and Military domestic and international projects
- Must be proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD 2012 or later and have experience with power system analysis software
- May be required to move on short notice and under adverse conditions
- Excellent communications, effective leadership and interpersonal skills
- Capable of complete design services including electric power distribution networks, power load determination, exterior electric, interior electric, and site lighting
- Working knowledge of Design Review, Project Mobilization, Quality Compliance, QA, Safety, Project Controls, and Capture Management
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2012 or later
- Experience with project development, contracting, and construction documents
- Computer literate, Microsoft Office 365 Suite and MS Project
- Current US Passport
- Able to travel domestically and internationally
- Pass a Fit-for-Duty Physical Examination
