Position description The Critical Gender Studies Program at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body, and invites applicants whose experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment. Responsibilities entail effective instruction of students, teaching classes in accordance with course objectives and published schedules, advising student on academic matters and maintaining and active interest in the advances/current thinking in their subject area. The position is in-person and classes will be held on the UC San Diego Campus. Appointments will range from part-time to full-time and may be extended. Course-loads will range from one course in one quarter up to nine courses over a full academic year - depending on the department's needs and the qualifications of the candidate - and will be determined at time of hire. Department : https://cgs.ucsd.edu Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or be ABD - all but dissertation) or have 3 years professional experience. Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree, or 3 years professional experience in a variety of fields including, but not limited to: Women's Studies, Feminist Studies, LGBTQ Studies, Gender Studies, Queer Studies, Ethnic Studies, Black Studies, Indigenous Studies, Chicanx/Latinx Studies, SWANA Studies, Asian American Studies, as well as traditional disciplines that engage the above fields. Preferred qualifications Preferred candidates must demonstrate excellent record in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Preferred requirements also include strong demonstrated accomplishments in areas contributing to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and a desire to play a role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.
