CUNY SPH is seeking to hire two tenure-track/tenured faculty members (open rank) in geospatial information systems, data science, or exposure science, environmental,urban health,or nutrition health sciences to join our multidisciplinary and collaborative department. We are interested in recruitingtwopublic health teacher-scholar-practitioner-trailblazers who will help shape the future of our school. Successful candidates are expected to have an active research program and area of interest and to play a role in teaching graduate students, student advising, enhancing existing educational programs, obtaining funding in promising research areas, and developing collaborative relationships within CUNY and with external partners. These positions are based in New York City and will start in August 2024. QUALIFICATIONS For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor: Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. A preferred candidate should have: At least one year of teaching experience, especially at the master???s or doctoral levels, a track record of scholarly publications and potential for funded research commensurate withthecareer stage. Expertise in one of the following areas: geospatial information systems, exposure science including but not limited to the impact of exposures on health outcomes of chronic or infectious diseases, geospatial effects on human health including but not limited to the application of GIS, big data, artificial intelligence, exposomics, or machine learning computational methods to improve health outcomes. Proficiency in one or more geospatial software suites or statistical software such as ArcGIS, R, or Python. Post-doctoral training ispreferred. Strong scholarly productivity, experience, and potential to seek and secure extramural funding. Experience and potential for excellence in multimodal graduate and doctoral instruction and innovative pedagogies Candidates must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to teaching and to student mentoring, and a willingness to participate in course and program development, Candidates should have the potential to seek and secure extramural funding, and develop and maintain an active research and academicpublication agenda in at least one of the fields described above or a closely related field. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work with others for the good of the institution, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. COMPENSATION Salary Range: $110,000 - $180,000 per annum. Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experiencefor a nine-month work year that is paid over the 12-month calendaryear.
