Accounting Technician III | East Carolina University - Military Veterans

Job Duties: The Accounting Technician III processes outgoing payments and is responsible for resolving issues that result in payments being returned. This position is also responsible for ensuring that documentation related to payments is maintained accordingly, reviewing journal entries posted to the Accounts Payable (AP) clearing account, reconciling the AP clearing account, reviewing various accounts payable reports, and preparation of withholding tax returns. The position serves under the general direction of the AP Director and supervises two staff that handle scanning/proofing and check writing. In the absence or unavailability of the AP Director, this position serves as the backup, managing the entire AP unit. Key Responsibilities of the Position Include: Processing domestic and foreign wire payments Canceling checks Researching and depositing incoming checks Monthly reconciliation of the AP Clearing account Researching returned ACH payments Researching returned AP checks and issuing affidavits as needed Completion of monthly state withholding tax filings for University-related entities ( ECU , ECU Foundation, ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation and ECU Educational Foundation) This position may be eligible for Flexible Work Arrangements ( FWA ) under the East Carolina University ( ECU ) FWA Policy. Within the Division, Financial Services is responsible for financial activities of East Carolina University and its affiliated Foundations.
