HPC Computational Scientist in the The Center for Research Computing - Dr. Muataz Al Barwani | New York University - Military Veterans

The Center for Research Computing, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a High-Performance Computing (HPC) Computational Scientist to work closely and collaborate with faculty and researchers on their computational research as well as conduct their research projects in the field of HPC that would benefit NYUAD. The successful applicant will collaborate with faculty and research centers on key computational projects, including application and algorithm development, establishing data analysis pipelines, and developing novel ideas, techniques, and tools. They will support researchers and faculty with their coding and algorithm development. They will monitor and enhance key applications to ensure maximum performance and system utilization and develop and maintain a testing environment to collaborate with key technology partners (Technology Watch). Collaborate with peer Research Computing/HPC centers and Research Computing/HPC vendors, keeping track of new techniques and technologies that could benefit NYUAD. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment with PhD-level scientists and graduate and undergraduate students. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent (i.e., M.Sc. with an additional 5 years of experience) in computer science, engineering, or a relevant/related field. Excellent Relevant experience with programming in multiple modern languages (such as Fortran, C, C ), Shell scripting (bash, etc.), the use of parallel libraries (MPI, OpenMP) and parallel processing (problem decomposition work distribution), and relevant experience in building, optimizing, and testing Large-scale parallel application software (WRF, ROMS, etc.). Relevant experience in optimizing and scaling large-scale parallel scientific applications, as well as relevant experience in software development methods and software productization methods, are required.
