Job Summary and Qualifications
The VP of Business Development is responsible for initiating, implementing and coordinating business initiatives and service line growth. Principal responsibilities include identification and execution of business development opportunities and strategies. The position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and also requires an excellent working relationship with Service Line Administrators, Marketing, Physician Recruitment, Sales and Hospital and Division Leadership.
The successful candidate will:
- Establish the scope and location of additional services including hospital based and free standing and joint ventures
- Grow the facilities market share in primary and secondary markets
- Initiate/promote outreach to referral providers; including rural hospitals, EMS organizations and long term care facilities
- Work with Physician Services in physician recruitment, employment and income guarantees
- Champion market integration and growth in key service lines: Cardiology, Oncology, Neuroscience, Orthopedics and Women’s Services
What qualifications you will need:
- Requires a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or similar graduate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Requires a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive healthcare facility leadership experience, five (5) of which must have been in a freestanding acute care facility; previous multi-facility and/or hospital marketing and/or planning management experience preferred. Emphasis on inpatient service line development, physician arrangements, and outreach skills a must.
Requires the ability to travel from one location to another within and around the hospital’s service area. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 20 pounds occasionally. Frequently required to work early morning and evenings. Limited overnight travel. Work is performed in an office environment with occasional off site meetings. Work may be stressful at times.
