The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, seeks full-time Clinical Associates for renewable two-year terms to serve as pediatric emergency medicine physicians in our Pediatric Level I Trauma accredited emergency room at The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. Appointees will be collaborative physicians positioned to succeed in a busy, dynamic environment and advance the clinical goals of the Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. These positions do not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications. UChicago Medicine is located on the main University campus in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Comer Children's Hospital is a state of art free standing children's hospital within the medical complex. The Pediatric Emergency Room treats more than 35,000 patients per year and is the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the south side of Chicago. It is a newly renovated facility with 22 general exam rooms, two procedure rooms, two triage rooms and two trauma/resuscitation rooms. The Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is committed to medical education, clinical research, patient care, and community service. The section has a full accredited fellowship program and a nurse practitioner program. The program has active pediatrics, med/peds and emergency medicine residencies programs, and precepts University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine medical students. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified in Pediatrics, and 4) be Board certified or Board eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and/or Critical Care Medicine, and/or have at least 5 years of Pediatric Emergency Medicine experience as an attending in a designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
