Job Description POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, NEUROSCIENCE IN ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY AND ELECTRICAL STIMULATION IN-VIVO , Program in Media Arts and Sciences - Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek Research Group , to join a research group that fuses engineering, applied physics, and biology to bridge the gap between nanotechnology and synthetic biology. There are two main research thrusts--to develop disruptive technologies for ultra-low power nanoelectronic devices as energy-efficient hardware for artificial intelligence and to merge such next-generation technologies with living matter to create a new paradigm for human-machine symbiosis in order to transform health care. The group works mainly works with rodents (mice and rats) but plans to start working with large animals shortly. Job Requirements REQUIRED : Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology, bioengineering, or another relevant field; experience with mouse/rat surgery, stereotactic injections, and implanting electrodes; experience with electrical stimulation and recording from mice/rats' brain/spinal cord with electrodes; experience testing animal behavior; in vivo expertise in electrophysiology techniques and electrical brain stimulation; and expertise with in vivo electrical recording and stimulation with electrodes in live animals. PREFERRED : experience with patch clamping in cultured cells or live slices; fiber photometry or 2-photon calcium imaging or optogenetics skills; experience studying neural plasticity with electrical stimulation; experience with neuropathic pain, Alzheimer's Disease, traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury; and experience with stem cells, 3D cultures, and organoids.
