Job Overview
Operator Instructors are responsible for assisting in the development of course content for relevant Komatsu and P&H Mining Products and Systems as well as delivering the developed training. Ultimately, the objective is to offer high level technical knowledge to support Komatsu and P&H Mining Products/Systems, thus improving customer confidence and product reliability. Delivery of the courses will be offered in numerous venues and locations throughout the globe.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Develop PowerPoint presentations and eLearning training modules that will be used by global trainers in the instruction of customers and field service personnel worldwide. This will include developing objectives, competencies, lesson plans, instructor guides, assessments, and training materials following traditional design processes, such as ADDIE.
- Refine and keep current with the latest course content via product improvement and development as well as industry standards needed to conduct relevant and timely training.
- Assist in developing and establishing hands-on training through lab usage in both in-house and field courses.
- Assist in developing manuals as required
- Assist in testing Komatsu and P&H Blasthole Drills when necessary.
- Participate as needed in personal job training to ensure and deliver relevant course content for the students.
- Establish a coordinated communication network for the purpose of gathering relevant updated course content as well as keep updated with products as defined by the department vision and mission statements.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma at a minimum, associate’s degree (AS) or bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in developing/conducting technical/operator training programs, preferably for heavy equipment or mining application.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in heavy equipment operation and/or service-related work with mechanical systems maintenance and/or industrial control systems. Previous operator experience of Komatsu and P&H Blasthole Drills preferred.
- Must be able to travel as necessary, domestic and international, with a valid passport.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and motivate/influence groups.
- A self-starter who shows the ability to guide, mentor, and supervise
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills leading to practical application
Additional Information
- Excellent computer and software skills as it pertains to the training development and training delivery. Being proficient in the use of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Preference of knowledge concerning media development software products and tools.
- Instructional design, adult education, and multimedia certification preferred.
- Verbal and written Spanish language are considered an asset.
- Ability to think outside of the box, challenge the status quo and encourage continuous improvement with all training classes.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization. We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.
