The HIV Clinical Consultant will provide expert education and guidance to health care professionals nationally. The HIV Clinical Consultant should be able to provide expert guidance in the following areas: HIV including medical management of persons living with HIV (i.e., HIV testing; HIV primary care; antiretroviral selection and treatment strategies; resistance testing interpretation; prevention, identification, and treatment of opportunistic infections; drug interactions and toxicity; and prevention of HIV transmission). Viral hepatitis including evaluation and management of persons living with hepatitis B and/or C. Managing occupational and non-occupational exposures to blood-borne pathogens (HIV, hepatitis B and C) PrEP care: Specific topics may include HIV testing before and during/after PrEP; PrEP eligibility; antiretroviral monitoring and toxicity; drug interactions; STI and other BBP screening. The HIV Clinical Consultant will answer incoming calls and ensure timely delivery of expert HIV consultation and perform administrative/operational duties that accompany the overall work of the project (such as performing journal reviews, participating in educational and quality improvement conferences, developing NCCC protocols, preparing materials to distribute to callers). An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
