TITLE: Faculty Position in Wellness, specializing in Health and Wellness DEPARTMENT: Education and Wellness WEBSITE: https://www.elon.edu/u/academics/education/ RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education at Elon University invites applications for a faculty position specializing in Health and Wellness Coaching, beginning August 2024. Elon University is committed to a diverse faculty, staff and student body and welcomes all applicants. The position can be a tenure-track or a lecturer position, depending on the qualifications of the candidate. Tenure-track candidates must hold a terminal academic degree in a related field, while lecturers must hold a master's degree in a related field. We seek candidates with a commitment to teaching health and wellness content to students, faculty, and staff from a diversity of background. The candidate will contribute to the undergraduate wellness curriculum and Elon's General Studies (CORE) Curriculum. Primary teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses in health and wellness courses including health coaching and nutrition. In addition to the primary role of teaching, candidates are expected to engage in service, scholarship, advising, and mentoring. Qualified candidates will have an advanced degree in a health and wellness-related field. Additionally, candidates must hold the NBC-HWC credential; extensive (at least 200 hrs.) health or wellness coaching experience; demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching; and record of, or potential for, scholarly activities commensurate with rank. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter. Required Qualifications: Preference given to candidates holding a Ph.D., Ed.D. or relevant terminal degree in a health or wellness-related field. Candidates with a master's degree in a health or wellness-related field will be considered. Currently holds the NBC-HWC designation. Experience as a health/wellness coach. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, mentoring and/or advising that contributes to inclusive excellence. Responsibilities include: Teaching in and contributing to a proposed Health and Wellness Coaching minor including: Developing internship placements and processes for supervision and evaluation Working in the community to sustain partnerships in support of the program Collaborating with other departments Teaching courses in nutrition, wellness, and health coaching Maintaining an active scholarly agenda, commensurate with rank Contributing to the broader university community About the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education and Elon University: Elon University is a nationally recognized leader in engaged, experiential learning that prepares graduates to be creative, resilient, ambitious, and ethical citizens of our global culture. In addition to traditional study abroad offerings led by Elon faculty, the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education runs a center at the University of Otago in New Zealand, allowing for a partnership with the College of Education at the University of Otago and Arcadia University for a semester-long study abroad program tailored for teacher education majors. Initial licensure programs in the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education are accredited under the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
