Mental Health Therapist - Military Veterans

at HERC- Upper MidWest

Job Summary:

Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and public health services to the student population at the College of St. Scholastica in order to promote a culture for student health and wellness, thereby fostering academic, personal, social and spiritual growth. All services will reflect the College's Benedictine heritage and will foster a culture of inclusion in support of the College's diversity goals.

Key Results/Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive psychotherapy services to the student population of The College of St. Scholastica.
  • Provide crisis intervention to campus community.
  • Provide training to appropriate campus organizations, faculty, staff and students regarding relevant mental health issues of college students.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical and professional boundaries as determined by The College of St. Scholastica and standards of the American Psychological Association, Minnesota Board of Social Work, The American Counseling Association and other professional organizations.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education as required by professional licensing boards.
  • Facilitate and/or serve on campus committees and task forces related to the mission of SCHAW.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's or doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or other related field.
  • Mental health licensure or licensure eligibility to provide clinical mental health services in Minnesota.
  • Competent and proficient in theoretical treatment approaches and techniques, with a proven ability to apply these theories while performing job-related responsibilities.
  • Experience in providing professional support and services to diverse individuals and groups.
  • Knowledge of the developmental issues, trends, and best practices related to college students and counseling services.
  • Strong cross cultural communication skills.

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment including computers and telephones. Need to be able to work for long periods of time at a computer to enter data, produce reports and receive information. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers in person and through technology.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Independent professional mental health license in the State of Minnesota.
  • 3 years professional experience providing Clinical Mental Health services.
  • Demonstrated experience providing culturally proficient and empowering clinical services to underrepresented and marginalized communities.
  • Experience providing programming and community support to diverse populations.
  • Specialty background, experience or training relevant to service campus populations.
