Gas Plant Production Technician - Military Veterans

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Carrier Gas Operations provides on-site air separation units producing nitrogen and oxygen gas production with best-in-class safety, reliability, flexibility and total cost of operation to our semiconductor manufacturing customers.  Also supplying cost effective high purity bulk gas.

  • Acts as a leader in safety and a resource to others concerning plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures.

  • Instill safety in others by being safety minded; models good safety practices.

  • Work safely in all situations.

  • Identify potential maintenance needs; enter them into the work order maintenance management system (Maximo).

  • Perform all work in compliance with standard operating and maintenance procedures, utilizing current Life Safety Training skills and safety requirements including safe work permits, energy control isolation and IDLs, confined space entry work, hot work, work plans, pre-job discussions, plant safety inspections, etc.

  • Ensure contractors, visitors, co-workers and others comply with company safety policies/procedures.

  •  Issues safe work permit documentation and performs lock-out tag-out of equipment.

  • Designs lock-out tag-out IDLs for plant work

  • Demonstrates ability to perform plant cold start and warm start with assistance

  • Ability to calibrate and troubleshoot plant analyzers

  • Demonstrates ability to perform day-to-day operations of facility unassisted

  • Exhibits good judgment in maintaining the reliability and quality of delivered products

  • Exhibit instrumentation and mechanical aptitude.

  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), corporate procedures; read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, process piping ISOs, simple schematics, P&IDs, electrical schematics; perform basic math operations.

  • Write and redline standard operating procedures 

  • Keep accurate records and be diligent in documentation and record retention policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of control board and operator interface computer consoles.

  • Perform operator rounds, water samples, truck loading, operations PM's.

  • Lead completion of PMs

  • Participate in plant planned outages

  • Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Management

  • Work rotating shift schedules that may include nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Manage operational aspects of the plant outside normal business hours and on weekends

Are you a MATCH?

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Associates degree preferred

  • 6+ years of technical training or operations experience

  • Ability to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and possibly holidays in order to meet shift and on-call requirements.

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Knowledge/understanding of instrumentation, rotating equipment and piping systems.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants (Process Safety Management, EPA regulations, FDA regulations, state/local regulations).

  • Knowledge in the proper methods of locking out and isolating equipment.

  • Ability to use computers-knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to work in a team environment; demonstrated self motivated attitude.

  • Good verbal/written communication skills in order to deal effectively with management and external customers.

  • Qualified in operation of the forklift, man lift and overhead crane is preferred.

  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.

  • Must be able to clear customer site requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to wear required PPE safety equipment including, hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and FRC clothing

  • Full range of motion; ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Able to climb ladders, work off elevated platforms/surfaces

  • Able to work in non-conditioned environment for extended periods

  • Able to enter confined spaces for inspection, testing and work

The hourly rate range for this position in Texas is $34.00-36.00
