Task Description: Aircraft Painter


 


The Aircraft Painter coats surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other materials, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices, removes old paint from aircraft, using liquid paint remover and scraper. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure the paint adheres to surface, mask and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, and paint insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft surface, using stencils.


 


 


Task Requirements:


 




  • Performs duties as Aircraft Painter on P-3 aircraft in support of Aircraft Division.


  • The Aircraft Painter is responsible for complying with corrosion inspections, and identifying/removing/treating corrosion, preparing aircraft and components for painting, performing touch-up painting and the performance of scheduled inspections.


  • Assist in the preparation of the aircraft and/or components for repaint. Paints aircraft, and AGE/SE.


  • Applies aircraft paint schemes and markings. Applies preservative treatments to aircraft, aerospace ground equipment (AGE), and support equipment (SE).


  • Stores, handles, and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards. Inspects structures and components and determines operational status.


  • Interprets inspection findings and determines corrective action adequacy.


  • Posts entries and maintains maintenance and inspection records in written and electronic format.


  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.


  • Perform maintenance on aircraft, mechanical systems, and/or ground support equipment.


  • Repair, inspect and maintain structural, and mechanical elements of the aircraft.


  • Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.


  • Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks. Maintain tool control. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools.


  • Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.




 


Out of country travel may be required for this position.


 


Preferred Qualifications:


 




  • 20 years’ experience.


  • Fifteen (15) years of Airframe and Power plant corrosion control experience in P-3 aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, corrosion control, and modification.


  • 8 years experience with the application and use of technical data and blueprints.




Basic Qualifications:




  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years’ additional education and/or related experience.


  • A minimum of 4 years experience on P-3 or similar platform.


  • Satisfactory completion of The U.S. Navy Corrosion Control School or acceptable substitute or F.A.A. Airframe License.


  • Two (2) or more years general experience in aircraft corrosion control.


  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.


  • A current U.S. passport, accept period time away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.


  • Ability to obtain CBP Secret clearance




 


Compensation


$39.54/hour


 


Other Compensation


Employees that waive medical insurance, receive an opt-out payment of $2.00 per hour paid to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Employees are able to enroll in KAI’s 401k plan.  Employees accrue 3.07 hours of vacation and 2.15 hours of personal paid time per pay period. KAI union employees working for at CBP have 10 paid holidays.


 


Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
