Thornton School of Music Adjunct Instructor/ Master Class Artist in Popular Music Performance - Electric Bass Position The University of Southern California??s Thornton School of Music invites applicants for appointment as Adjunct Instructor/Master Class Artist in Popular Music Performance - Electric Bass to begin on January 1, 2024. This appointment is for a period of one academic semester, and may be renewed in subsequent semesters based on the needs of the department. Duties Principal duties will include private instruction in electric bass performance for up to four advanced students in the Popular Music Performance program at the undergraduate levels; additional instruction includes ensemble class, masterclasses and coaching sessions in various forums to students in the Popular Music Program; and participating in department activities, including juries, showcases, auditions and meetings. Additional related duties may be assigned, based on the needs of the department and the qualifications of the candidate. Qualifications  The ideal candidate will have expertise and direct experience in school music education.    Preferred Education: Bachelor??s/Master??s degree in bass performance. Preferred Experience: High-level professional performance experience. The preferred candidate will have several years of experience teaching at the collegiate or professional level master classes, workshops or clinics. Very well-versed in the styles of bass playing covering the 1950??s -present day in the genres including, R&B, pop, jazz, rock, and World Music Professional level recording experience as a studio bassist Professional level concert touring experience Review of applications will commence in early December and the position will remain open until filled. The salary hiring range for this position for the teaching load described above is $12,500 - $16,500 per semester.
