Associate Director, Career Education University of California Merced Job ID 60933 Location Merced Full/Part Time Full Time Hiring Range The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is $67,800 - $122,800. The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $75,000 - $84,000. About the Job Reporting to the Director, The Associate Director for Career Education leads the creation, implementation, and assessment of innovative University-wide programs, services, resources, and experiences that support the career development and success of undergraduate and graduate students, and alumni. The Associate Director serves on the Student Career Center's leadership team, to develop and communicate the overall vision for and delivery of career services. Participates in the Center's long-range planning, annual goal-setting, and assessment initiatives. Collaborates with broader Office of Leadership, Service and Career (OLSC) colleagues in the design and delivery of cohesive high impact practices and programs. Serves as liaison to and develops relationships with key faculty and campus colleagues to facilitate the integration of career readiness and experiential learning into curricular and co-curricular offerings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: With vision and creativity, oversees all aspects of the Center's efforts to deliver a comprehensive career education program including services, events, workshops, and materials for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni. Conducts needs assessments and identifies innovative ways to deliver programming, and to partner with faculty, student clubs, staff, parents, employers, and others to enhance career education offerings. Ensures Center offerings meet the needs of all stakeholders. Leads a career education team devoted to the holistic career development of students and alumni. Hires, trains, and mentors professional Career Specialist staff members. Coordinates professional training and development activities for Career Center staff. Delivers core career programs including career coaching, experiential education programs, and professional development initiatives. Establishes programming goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely as well as defines effective student learning outcomes for programs and events. Develops and implements systems for assessing the quality and effectiveness of career education programs and services. Establishes and manages data collection processes and reporting metrics. Contributes to the institutional data set on key outcomes. Analyzes data to make informed decisions and recommendations based on results. Conducts outreach and makes presentations to campus and external colleagues regarding Career Center offerings and opportunities to engage broadly in career programs. *LI-RM1 Qualifications EDUCATION and REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, Human Resource Management, Counseling, professional degree or related from an accredited institution. Master's degree required in a related field from an accredited institution. Experience Required Minimum five years of relevant experience in career services, recruiting, higher education, training, human resources, education, or equivalent combination of experience. CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS: Demonstrated knowledge of the administrative structure and academic programs of a research university, with specific knowledge of student career development. Excellent supervisory experience in a service-oriented environment. Honed skills in collaboration and project management. Excellent career coaching and facilitation skills to engage students. Ability to navigate, prioritize and effectively communicate with complex network of internal and external constituents. Ability to take risks, assess and shift priorities, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment. (Preferred) Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and act with discretion. Knowledge of program assessment, evaluation methodology, and survey techniques. Ability to identify the needs of diverse populations and create programs and services designed to meet their unique requirements. Ability to effectively counsel graduate students as well as alumni with more advanced career development issues. Familiarity with technology and its role in enhancing the delivery of career services to students and alumni. Familiarity with social media. Perform other duties as designed.
