Job Overview



The Battery Systems Engineer will focus on advanced battery technologies for the next generation of zero emission mining equipment and infrastructure.  



Key Job Responsibilities





  • Experience with Battery Systems Integration


  • Design and develop new battery systems and technologies. 


  • Conduct performance and safety tests on battery systems. 


  • Analyze and interpret test data, preparing technical reports and documentation. 


  • Work with manufacturing processes to ensure production efficiency and quality. 


  • Identify and solve technical issues related to battery performance and lifespan. 


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, production, and quality assurance to deliver optimized battery solutions. 


  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. 


  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in battery technology and integrate them into product designs when feasible. 


  • Contribute to cost reduction initiatives through design and process improvements. 


  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies. 




Qualifications/Requirements





  • Approximately 5 years of experience with industrial machinery, construction, or mining equipment


  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering. 


  • Experience in product design, knowledge of production process and best practices. 


  • Experience in cooling system design. 


  • Experience in design, development, testing, and integration of batteries and battery management systems into mobile applications. 


  • Experience with battery management system HIL testing. 


  • Experience in development of battery equivalent circuit, thermal and aging models using Matlab/Simulink. 


  • Experience with rectifiers, inverters, power control systems, and chargers.




Additional Information



Pay: $90,000 - $130,000

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.
