Mechanisms of Network Development Postdoc

The Smith Lab at the University of Minnesota is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a fully funded multi-year position to study the formation and plasticity of large-scale neural networks in the cortex. This research will employ cutting-edge multiphoton imaging and optogenetics to measure and manipulate cortical networks in vivo during development.

Position Responsibilities:
100% - Conduct independent research projects related to the labs' mission in coordination with PI.

Required Qualifications:
• PhD (or MD/PhD) (or expected PhD, to be completed before beginning position) MD/PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated record of research accomplishments.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: multiphoton imaging, optogenetics, calcium imaging, and / or in vivo electrophysiology.
• Experience with in vivo recordings.
• Experience and familiarity with scientific and statistical software (e.g. MATLAB, Python).

Applicants without prior experience in these areas but with a strong interest in applying optical approaches to investigate circuit function are also encouraged to apply.

Salary Range
$54,840 to $56,484
