Job Summary
The Office of Information Technology Service Desk is seeking a student applicant to provide technical expertise and assistance to Auburn faculty, staff, students, incoming students, alumni, and retirees. This individual will provide Level One support to our constituents across campus. Student employees are under direct supervision of the full-time Service Desk staff.
Essential Functions
- Level One support for Auburn Information Technology resources including data network, wireless network, accounts, email, labs, software, printing services, cable TV, classroom support, telephone systems, web applications, and other Central IT services.
- Incident tracking to assist with problem resolution, development of online support documentation, and IT planning.
- Configuration of laptops, tablets, and cell phones for campus wireless and email systems.
- Provide assistance to students living on campus with configuration of TV's, gaming systems, and other streaming devices for campus Gamenet.
- Assistance with Duo 2Factor registration, reactivation, and removal.
- Ability to work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a current Auburn University student.
- Must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA.
- Must be willing to work some evening shifts (Monday - Thursday, 5 pm - 10 pm).
- Must be willing to work some Sunday shifts (5 pm - 10 pm).
- Must be willing to work during the Summer semester.
- Must be willing to work portions of the breaks between semesters (this includes Fall and Spring breaks, and part of Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks).
Expectations:
- Must understand that if hired, the student will be responsible for working the hours that they are scheduled or will ensure that their hours are covered if they are unable to work a scheduled shift.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be motivated, diligent, and hard-working.

Welcome to Auburn University!
Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
