Job Description – Welder
Responsibilities:
-
Perform Mig welding by using a variety of arc and gas welding equipment
-
Read and interpret schematics (blueprints) and work instructions
-
Fabricate, fit, and cut to meet blueprint standards
-
Inspect assembly/components for conformance of specifications
-
Trim, file, grind, sand, deburr, buff and smooth surfaces using hand and power tools
-
Properly lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material
-
Apply knowledge of shop math and layout techniques
-
Learn and operate all equipment within the work area or cell
-
Use basic hand tools such as a tape measure and specialty equipment
-
Perform functional and quality testing based on Altec’s standards
-
Perform rework and troubleshooting as required
-
Maintain work area and shop tools/equipment
-
Use and conduct proper care of personal protective equipment
-
Follow established safety, environmental, and quality policies/procedures
-
Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives
-
Support RCI (Rapid Continuous Improvement) events when necessary
-
Cross-train to other work areas as needed to support production needs
-
Take ownership and accountability over workmanship
-
Assist and respect peers, co-workers and supervisors across Team Altec
-
Be flexible to learning Altec programs and/or systems
-
Accept other duties and shift work as assigned
-
Show commitment to Altec core values.
Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution
-
Ability to obtain Altec’s AWS D 1.1 weld certification
-
Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend basic functions of job
-
Basic computer knowledge
-
Vocational training and previous experience in welding desired
