Job Summary

The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment is currently seeking an experienced individual to assist with grounds maintenance and events at The Crooked Oaks facility.

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work
  • Emergencies

Essential Functions

Grounds keeper will work directly with the Operations Coordinator and Crooked Oaks Manager in planning and executing each event, grounds maintenance, lodging and the hospitality spectrum of Crooked Oaks. The candidates may be asked to help assist with managerial duties, as well as grounds maintenance as needed.

Maintaining landscape:
  • Mowing
  • Weed eating



Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Applicants must be available to work weekdays and weekends, including mornings and evenings
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (25lbs or greater)

Desired Qualifications

Landscaping and Event set-up experience.

    Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute.
