This position is located at Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.
Essential Functions
- Assist engineering staff with operations, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair and modification of radar systems.
- Responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on the radar which involves evaluating complex radar electrical systems to diagnose and repair component failures.
- Assist with equipment design modifications, including fabrication, drawings and testing.
- Participate as a team member in the design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) projects involving electrical, servos, and other subsystems as necessary.
- Provide transmitter operations support including but not limited to daily warm-ups, satellite tracks, and range test operations.
- Perform necessary diagnostics and repair of radar equipment.
- Maintain maintenance schedules, spare parts, and equipment inventory.
- Support customers by preparing systems for mission execution and operations.
- Perform shift work to support operational tasking
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Working understanding of engineering practices including but not limited to:
- Soldering
- Circuit board assembly
- System and component level troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, power meters, insulation testers, and other test equipment.
- Ability to read electronic schematics and mechanical drawings
- Ability to effectively perform maintenance, repairs and replacement of complex mechanical systems, gear boxes, large brake systems and/or large electric motors/generators .
- Familiarity and experience with Allen Bradley control systems and radar antenna servo control systems
- Working knowledge of electrical theory, and the associated principles, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to communicate with suppliers, perform material estimating, write technical specifications, read and approve submittals and finalize as-built drawings.
- Self-motivated and work effectively with considerable latitude but follow established processes.
- Be a self-starter and ability to work well independently but also as part of a team with a common goal.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
Required Experience
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)
- Five or more years of technical experience.
- Journeymen's Electrician License
- Desired:
- Direct experience with high power generators or electro-mechanical systems.
- Experienced at building and/or terminating cables such as BNC, N type RF cables, semi-rigid coax, Helix coax and soldering
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC software/ladder logic.
- Some knowledge of programs such as RSLinx, RSLogix, RSView, Matlab
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Willingness and physical ability to carry equipment weighing 50 pounds.
- Willingness and physical ability to climb and work at heights up to 50 feet.
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
- Climber II Certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire (local training and testing provided).
- This position is unaccompanied.
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Garrison - Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
