Summary / Description

We are seeking motivated, career and customer oriented Systems Engineers interested in joining our team in the Washington, DC metro area and exploring an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.

In this role you will deliver world class solutions to Unisys’ customer. You will use your experience to design, integrate, and deliver complex systems solutions to a large enterprise customer. Will you apply systems engineering methods and techniques to the design, development, evaluation, integration, qualification and/or support of complex products, tools, or techniques in one or more areas of expertise.

 

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Highly specialized in one or more phases of software systems development, systems integration, or network engineering.
  • Acts independently under general direction. Provides technical assistance and advice on complex activities.
  • Formulates / defines specifications, develops / modifies / maintains complex systems and subsystems, using vendor engineering releases and utilities for overall operational systems.
  • Applies analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing technology solutions, and developing procedures to resolve the problems.
  • Develops complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare required programs.
  • Analyzes methods of approach.
  • Reviews task proposal requirements, gathers information, analyzes data, prepares project synopses, compares alternatives, prepares specifications, resolves processing problems, coordinates work with programmers and engineers, and orients users to new systems.
  • Works with considerable freedom to make decisions on the techniques and approaches to be used.
  • Prepares recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration.
  • Demonstrate strengths in multiple areas. Suggest new features. Research new technologies and testing methodologies.
  • Estimate, plan and manage multiple concurrent tasks and contribute to project planning. Compile actual efforts into status reports. Gather and report metrics. Ensure that the team meets all deadlines and commitments.
  • Analyze technical requirements in area of expertise and proposes solutions.
  • Conduct technical feasibility studies.
  • Architect specific products, solutions or testing strategies. Identify testing configurations for the overall solution. Document specifications which provide a high level of definition of the module and describe how it interfaces/integrates with other modules
  • Coordinate and oversee complex feature development/testing by team members. Monitor adherence to quality and encourage the team members to adhere to quality processes. Review written code for self and others

 

Requirements

Position Requirements:

U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED

Minimum ability to obtain public trust clearance, Secret or higher clearance a plus

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

Relevant certifications a plus

Must have demonstrated capability for oral and written communications

Understand Product Life Cycle management in a systems engineering environment

Expert knowledge of engineering concepts/principles

Proactive, analytical and capable of influencing and providing decision support
