Summary / Description
We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Deputy Program Manager with a Mechanical Engineering background to join our team in Hampton, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.
The Simulation and Aircraft Services (SAS) contract provides full life cycle flight simulation software and hardware services and flight simulation infrastructure engineering services for LaRC ground-based and flight research systems and facilities. Hardware services include engineering, operations, and maintenance of the simulation hardware and software infrastructure. Infrastructure engineering services include modification of existing infrastructure, design and implementation of new infrastructure, and support for simulation operations and maintenance activities.
The Flight Simulation Facilities (FSF) are comprised of computing systems including the Real-Time Computer Systems, a six-degree-of-freedom motion base, four full-sized simulator cockpits, and a multi-purpose re-configurable test and evaluation simulator. The FSF also include Systems Integration and Laboratories.
Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:
Serves as Hardware Manager for the SAS Contract directing program resources including subcontractors.
Assists the Program Manager with resource allocation to projects supported by the contract to include Unisys employees and subcontractors.
Responsible for successful hardware management and completion of hardware projects.
Provides updates to the Program Manager regarding hardware project status and progress, including client briefings as appropriate.
Documents, manages and appropriately escalates hardware project issues and concerns.
Models and applies engineering methods and techniques to the design, development, integration, qualification and/or support of the products and tools within one or more areas of expertise.
Develops work requests or proposals for retrofits, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing equipment. Interacts with Unisys procurement and support organizations as required to secure system hardware and other products necessary to meet deliverable and contractual requirements.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
5 years of management experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Strong team building skills required.
Knowledge of embedded real-time system operations and configurations preferred
