Job Summary

The College of Veterinary medicine seeks candidates for a Student Pathobiology Lab Assistant, whose primary responsibility is to engage in original, professional-level research under a faculty member's supervision in the course of obtaining a graduate degree.

Essential Functions

  • Students are expected to participate and perform all the research experiments in the lab, actively engage in routine laboratory practice, ordering laboratory reagents, and routine maintenance of the laboratory equipment.





  • Students are responsible to report all the laboratory data and findings to the advisor, present data in weekly lab meeting, attend conferences to present the research results when available.

  • Students are expected to conceive and pursue research projects, design experiments, prepare draft of manuscripts and efficiently maintain research ethics.

  • In this role, the students will be responsible for the day to day routine laboratory research issues and should report to advisor regularly, finish all the Graduate course work and preliminary exam requirements within two years from the date of joining.

  • Currently enrolled as an Auburn University graduate student

    Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.

    Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
