Job Summary and Qualifications

The role our Crisis Assessment Specialist is to deliver exceptional, patient-focused care by coordinating assessments ordered by our physicians or attendings concerning psychiatric or substance abuse problems.  In this role our team provides mental health assessments on potential clients while determining most appropriate level of care and referring to appropriate areas of service.  

What you will do in this Role:


  • Provides crisis assessments across acute care hospitals within the emergency departments and medical floors 

  • Completes assessments of patients experiencing psychiatric symptoms

  • Coordinates transfers and referrals for appropriate level of care in collaboration with physicians and nursing services

  • Serves as a liaison between physicians, patients/family and the hospital 

  • Accurately maintains documentation and reports in timely fashion as requested

  • Provides crisis intervention and referral support for all age groups 

  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures 

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the Code of Conduct 

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • 1 year of psychiatric experiences

  • SAMA must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Masters Degree

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Lic Pro Counselor Associate, or Lic Pro Counselor Intern, or Registered Nurse
