Southwest Cheese is the world’s largest manufacturer of cheese/whey products and is located in Clovis, New Mexico.  It is a joint venture between Glanbia and The Greater Southwest Agency and provides ample opportunity for career growth and experience in a fast-paced, high-performing enterprise.

The Opportunity 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to join our team as an Environmental Manager. This role is integral to our operations, focusing on the management of environmental programs and the operation and treatment of water and wastewater. This permanent position will report to the EH&S/Engineering Manager and duties include but are not limited to the following; 

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct audits, analyze and collate environmental performance data, and report information to internal staff, clients, and regulatory bodies.

- Manage environmental strategy budgets and capital expenditure projects. 

- Lead team to execute teh correct operations and maintenance of the Waste Water Treatment Plant. 

- Prepare operational schedules and coordinate with manufacturing to consistently deliver a quality water supply.

- Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.

- Monitor changes to environmental legislation and initiatives at Federal, State, and Local levels to ensure compliance.

- Develop schemes for recycling, pollution reduction, and pollution prevention.

- Provide environmental training to all levels of site employees.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill, coaching employees to be successful.

- Technical knowledge of waste water operations, chemical, biology and/or science.

- Knowledge of or experience with permits reported to the EPA.

- Regulatory compliance knowledge or experience.

- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
